Edgardo D. Gomez is a name often associated withmarine science in the Philippines. Early streaks of hisexcellence were evident when he graduated with adouble degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science anda Bachelor of Science in Education, from De La SalleUniversity with recognition as summa cum laude anda gold medal for general excellence. Further graduate studies led to anMSc in Biology from St. Mary’s University in Minnesota and a PhD inMarine Biology from the prestigious Scripps Institute of Oceanogra-phy of the University of California in San Diego.
